As a small and horizontally integrated enterprise, THI is always interested in recruiting new and enthusiastic externs to work on a wide range of projects and initiatives. We are looking for individuals who combine a positive worldview with a strong sense of how to get things done.
Externs work from wherever they call home, with a minimum commitment of ten hours a month. We offer our volunteers a unique opportunity to work with leaders in many fields, creating content and programs for our ever-widening global audience.
We place a high priority on maturity of purpose, self-reliability, articulateness, curiosity, sense of humor, honesty, and ability to get along with people. Those of you interested in international relations, cross-cultural education, web publishing, anthropology, environmental affairs, political science, journalism, non-profit management, fund-raising or positive change in general are encouraged to apply.
As with THI internships during our first sixteen years, we take great care to customize each externship. We want it to meet your goals as well as ours. Assignments include strategic planning; alliance development; public relations; marketing; expanding current initiatives and establishing new ones; fund-raising; and translation.
We welcome applications throughout the year. To apply for one of the positions listed above, please email a resume and cover letter to our externship coordinator, Miranda Cole, at: firstname.lastname@example.org. Your cover letter should discuss how your experience, talents and interests would contribute to our initiatives. We are keenly interested in your ability to write well, in particular with simplicity and style.
At present, we are especially interested in volunteers to work on our effort to end war, including the development of our Museum of Inspiration, as well in these areas:
Travel for Positive Change
Created as a tool for volunteer travelers to use in building a better understanding of this growing sector of the travel industry, THI is seeking volunteers to help expand content. A special focus of this project is delving into the practices of the industry and identifying ways that volunteer travelers can have the greatest impact during their time overseas. We are looking for writers and researchers for this project, preferably with experience in volunteer travel or international development.
Our web site, www.humanity.org, is of course central to our mission. Our dedicated team works hard on this site, but we can always use additional hands to help design, develop, and implement new ideas, in addition to the regular updating of ongoing projects. Experience with Drupal is a plus, but not necessary. The main requirement that we ask of all volunteers is that they are willing to tailor their work to the tone and goals of THI.
THI is currently in the process of launching several new initiatives and needs a dedicated volunteer, or volunteers, to help with the design of logos and other graphics for these projects. This is a unique opportunity for a graphic designer to be able to work on several different projects and contribute to the overall design of humanity.org.
As a global organization, we are always in search of volunteers who can translate our offerings into new languages, enabling us to reach new audiences. If you speak two or more languages and are interested in volunteering as a translator, or would like to translate a specific portion of our site, we would be happy to hear from you.
This remains on ever-evolving arena and we seek creative individuals who can find their way through both traditional funding sources and also the newer possibilities, such as cloud funding.
